Rearcross U-12's played host to highflying Killavilla 'A' in this Cup tie played at Rearcross FC Grounds on Wednesday evening and went under on an eight goals to nil scoreline. The home team made a promising enough start and created a half chance through Jack Morrissey, however visiting custodian Adam Wallace advanced to shut out the danger. The Premier Division side opened their account in the 7th minute when Jamie Ryan finished to the net from close range. Killavilla remained on the front foot as Jamie Ryan tacked on two more to complete his hat-trick. It was four nil to the Roscrea Club after Darren Doyle headed home at the back post before Kenny Lee tapped between the posts to leave Killavilla in the driving seat on a five nil scoreline at the half time whistle. Rearcross turned in stronger performance in the second half with Colm Lenihan to the fore between the posts, a free kick from Cillian Kennedy was headed clear under the crossbar and then Sean Malone's effort clipped the butt of the upright, but this was as good as it got for home side as Killavilla ran out comfortable winners with further strikes from Cealim Murphy, Mark Davidson and Conor Phelan to copper fasten a comfortable win. Rearcross plying their trade in the Third Division faced an uphill battle from the start in this fixture but showed commendable spirit in the second half against the odds and can look forward to the final league game of the campaign next Saturday.
